Abortion isn’t a distraction.

unlockehobbs:

I’m so sick of people calling things like abortion or gay marriage a “distraction from the bigger issues, like the fact that we have troops deployed over seas.”

Not only do those social issues actually fucking matter to the people they affect, and the people that care about them, but it’s that kind of fucked up logic of “we can’t worry about you, we need to worry about what I see as the most important issue” that contributes to the “bigger issues” like war, or drone bombings.

When you say “the fact that you can’t get easy access to an abortion is less important than the fact that we’re killing people with drones,” it’s basically the same as the people making the big decisions saying “look, the fact that we’re killing people is less important than the fact that we’re protecting Americans.”

So if you think “hey, don’t vote on social issues because we have real problems” you need to understand that you and the line of thinking you’re promoting are contributing to what you see as “real problems.”

If you don’t care about everybody, you don’t care about anybody.

The Republican Party’s knowledge of a vagina.

*female reproductive system (the vagina is just the “fun” part)

*Mullerian reproductive system. (Plenty of female folks don’t have that)

The next time someone compares voter suppression and voter ID laws with needing ID to fly on an airplane, ask them how many people were lynched, beaten or murdered for the constitutionally guaranteed “right” to fly.

unlockehobbs:

Let’s add to that the fact that flying on an airplane isn’t fundamental to the democrat process and limiting one’s ability to fly on an airplane doesn’t limit someone’s potential to be represented in government.

We still really need feminism

unlockehobbs:

Todd Akin saying rape doesn’t lead to pregnancy and still being (ahead) in the race for a seat in congress is a great example of why feminism is still necessary.

It’s not that I think everyone who votes for him agrees with what he says, it’s just that they don’t see it as an issue worth voting on.

We have to make the choice between a candidate that trivializes rape, and a candidate that doesn’t, an easy choice to make.

im crying literally what has this world come to that thing could kill a person

What “thing” are you referring to? The wall in the background? The hands? The bra? The couch? The paper? The ink? All of those “things” have killed people. The common factor is that a human killed another by throwing them into a wall, or beating them with their fists or choking them or dropping furniture on them or shoving paper down their throat or poisoning them. I can only assume you are crying because it’s sad that people murder each other. Otherwise, I must assume you are crying because you are 7 years old and believe guns have the magic power to come to life and kill people.

Even if you live in the fantasy world where guns make you safer, the point is women shouldn’t be obligated to have to carry around a gun for protection. Being a woman shouldn’t be that dangerous. And given that you’re carrying that gun in the same manner as Plaxico Burress I might still support feminism so you have a fall back plan in case you accidentally shoot yourself in the leg and the state takes away your conceal carry permit.
